Responsibilities

As a SkillBridge Cyber/IT Security Intern with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following. We have availability to bring on an intern starting in October 2025.

Conduct periodic system assessments to ensure compliance with system authorization.
• Review & maintain RMF certification & accreditation packages.
• Conduct security assessments & design, develop, & implement appropriate security controls and assess effectiveness.
• Install, administer, & troubleshoot network security solutions.
• Configure & support security tools, such as firewalls & anti-virus software.
• Perform vulnerability scans & enforce remediation actions.
• Employ log monitoring, network traffic analysis, & implementing IDS & IPS.
• Provide timely detection, identification, & alert of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, & misuse activities & distinguish these from benign activities.
• Operate Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) technology; collect & analyze log & event data; & detect, alert, & report on potential security threats or incidents.
• Respond to security incidents, including computer security breaches & viruses.
• Apply cyber threat intelligence to address malware threats, phishing campaigns, & APTs.
• Use cyber defense tools & collect data to analyze events & mitigate threats.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED: Candidates must be eligible to participate in a SkillBridge program. If you are unsure if you are eligible, please speak with your Unit Commander or Transition Coordinator.
• Must have 180 days of military service or fewer remaining prior to your date of discharge and have at least 180 continuous days of active military service (as defined by the DOD SkillBridge eligibility requirements)
• Must have approval from your Unit Commander to participate in a SkillBridge program (as defined by the DOD SkillBridge eligibility requirements)
• Top Secret/SCI Clearance required

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $43,200.00/Yr. - USD $72,100.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
