We examine and report on the suitability of federal civilian, military, and contractor personnel for positions critical to national security. About this Role: This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position. Benefits are not provided, and pay is based on work conducted. The investigative work requires self-disciplined individuals with exceptional organizational skills who manage their own schedules. Approximately 60% of the work is remote from a home-based office, and 40% is conducted in the field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in typing, technology (Windows, smartphones), and interpersonal skills. What you’ll do: Conduct background investigations for federal government clients to determine employment suitability and security clearance eligibility. Conduct face-to-face or virtual interviews with subjects and sources, recording providers. Complete record searches at law enforcement agencies, courthouses, and other institutions. Compile findings into clear, concise reports using standardized formats. Ensure investigations comply with federal standards, laws, and regulations. Interact with managers, government agencies, and law enforcement to maintain effective working relationships. Qualifications: Training to the National Training Standards. Recent direct experience supporting federal background investigations (preferably within the last three years). Active Top Secret security clearance. Ability to acquire and maintain other necessary clearances. Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and good driving record. Successful completion of all required trainings.
