They are currently seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function and serve as a strategic partner in the financial health of the organization. About the Role: The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations, including job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management. This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for someone with a solid background in construction accounting who is energized by working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities of the Controller Role: Manage daily accounting operations: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements The Controller will maintain accurate job costing and WIP schedules Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets, billings, and cost performance Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and industry regulations Coordinate audits and tax filings in partnership with external accountants The Controller will lead process improvement efforts and contribute to accounting system upgrades Mentor and manage a small accounting team Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support decision-making and company growth Qualifications of the Controller Role: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role Construction industry experience is required Deep understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction-specific financial practices Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Sage, Viewpoint, or similar ERP systems is a plus Creative Financial Staffing
