Job Description

A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is sought for a short-term, leave coverage assignment in an elementary school setting near Marietta, GA. This contract position runs from July 1st to August 13th, primarily serving a 3rd-grade student requiring one-on-one support. The role involves facilitating communication for a student who spends half of their day with a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) and the other half in a general education classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing one-on-one sign language interpreting support to ensure effective communication.
• Assisting the student in both specialized and general education classroom environments.
• Maintaining confidentiality and adapting interpretation techniques to meet the student's needs.
• Collaborating closely with educators and support staff to foster an inclusive learning experience.

Qualifications:

• Professional certification or demonstrated expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• Experience working in educational settings, especially with elementary-aged children.
• Ability to work from 7:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., totaling 30 hours per week.
• Flexibility to cover a leave assignment from July 1st through August 13th.
• Familiarity with the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is highly preferred.
